St Kilda Pier Sunset for Sunday Best

As the sun descended towards the horizon, casting its final golden hues across the sky, Joel and I found ourselves in search of a place to empty our bladders. In the distance, the timeless silhouette of a classic kiosk café stood, a silent witness to our quest.

Balnarring Jetty for Skywatch Friday

This picturesque spot is perfect for anyone looking to connect with nature, breathe in fresh sea air, and soak up the tranquil vibes.

During sunrise and sunset, the jetty transforms into a canvas of breathtaking colors, reflected beautifully on the calm waters below. It's a haven for photographers, artists, and anyone who appreciates the simple beauty of nature. The jetty is also a fantastic spot for fishing enthusiasts, offering a peaceful setting to cast a line and potentially catch a variety of local fish.

St Kilda Pier Melbourne for Water H2O Thursday

Returning to laborious pursuits after the festivities is indeed arduous. Behold this image, captured upon a blustery day, the sea roiling with tempestuous swells. The melancholic ambiance of the scene is rather striking to me.

I like the lamb commercial this year. A good laugh.

Abandoned jetty at Rapid Bay for Water H2O Thursday

Rapid Bay's jetty was originally constructed in 1942 to facilitate limestone mining operations. However, as the years passed and industrial needs changed, the once bustling jetty was abandoned in favor of a newer, more modern structure. Today, it stands as a hauntingly beautiful relic of the past, with its skeletal remains stretching out into the turquoise waters of the bay.

This forgotten jetty has become a magnet for those seeking adventure off the beaten path. Divers flock to its underwater world, where schools of fish, colorful coral, and sometimes even the elusive leafy sea dragon can be spotted amidst the submerged pylons. For photographers, the jetty offers an endless canvas of rustic beauty. Each visit reveals a different facet, from the play of light and shadows to the dramatic backdrop of rolling waves and sunsets that paint the sky in hues of orange and pink.

Balnarring Beach for Treasure Tuesday

It was a high tide on the weekend. So there were only a few locations worth visiting.

I did not get the look I want. There will be more practices in the future.

Grantville Jetty for Sunday Best

This jetty is easy to get to. A nice Souvlaki store nearby. Easy for a silent day

Balnarring Beach Mornington Peninsula for Water H2O Thursday

On the day, Joel and I were supposed to visit the abandoned submarine in Hastings. It turned out the wreckage was already removed! It was so upsetting. So we moved quickly to this nearby beach before sunset took place.

Tenby point old jetties for Sunday Best

This is lowest tide of the evening from a week ago. There are way too many mozzies potentially carrying encephalitis B virus

It was a bad planning on my behalf. These muds sink my feet to waist level if I am not being careful at all. So it is all telephoto lens doing the long exposure ineffectively.

At least this look is not common on instagram feeds.

Star Fish below Princes Pier

This frame gives me some creeps and visual impact somewhat. I still like how it looks.

Princess Pier, Melbourne

The underside of the Princess Pier is all rusted. The place stinks because of massive deaths of star fish. How lovely an urban exploration ends up in this ugly spot.

Sandridge Pier, Melbourne, Australia

Sandridge pier is the classic location to take a sunrise shots of Melbourne skyline

The pier is an easy access. I arrived at 4 am with a significant sleep deprivation. Well, anything for a photo. I did need quite a few more cups of coffee after this.

Seaford Pier Sunset

This pier is an attraction for troubles. It crashes a few times over the year. The place often gets seagulls (sea rats) attacking people randomly. One kid got a blind eye as a result as well. The water smells of organic waste from these flying sea gulls too.

It looks nice pointing my camera at the sun. Unfortunately these seagulls looked like dusts on my camera sensor!

Seaford Pier Sunset

This spot is revered by many photographers in Melbourne - short travel and ease to set up the gear for long exposure under the bridge

Laowa 9mm f5.6 is a lens that does not have a good flare control. However, it is still an exceptional lens. Also a bit of glare makes the image real lol

Sony A7RIV allows me so much pixel to play with. Good dynamic range helps here.
