I am not sure whom drew these murals. A little punk and sassy.
Last weekend, we did not venture a coast again. The weather turned sour and high tide at the sea. So we just visited a cafe instead.

In the 1990s, these sculptural sticks were erected as part of an effort to position Melbourne as a more artistic and culturally expressive city. I still recall the press at the time describing them in unflattering terms, with some critics dismissing them as eyesores or likening them to phallic symbols. I later learnt that the area was considered particularly well suited to black-and-white photography, which prompted Joel and me to visit for a walk. As it happened, the rain had lingered in the precinct, leaving reflective surfaces that added depth and character to the sculptures. It proved to be an enjoyable and memorable outing.

Woomelang, a small town situated in the Mallee region of Victoria, Australia, has become an unexpected but captivating destination for travelers and art enthusiasts alike, thanks to its contribution to the growing phenomenon of silo art. Like many rural towns in Australia, Woomelang has embraced the use of large grain silos as canvases for monumental public art. The Woomelang silo murals, completed in 2019, are part of the larger "Silo Art Trail" in Victoria’s northwest, which has transformed the landscape of the Australian outback and revitalized interest in these remote communities.
The Woomelang murals are the work of renowned street artist Jimmy Dvate, who is celebrated for his focus on Australian native flora and fauna. The artwork on the silos highlights local wildlife, particularly species that are significant to the Mallee region. Prominently featured are the malleefowl, a threatened ground-dwelling bird native to the area, and the plains-wanderer, an endangered bird species that has become a symbol of conservation efforts in the region. These images are more than just artistic expressions; they serve as reminders of the fragility of the local ecosystem and the importance of environmental stewardship.
The murals also celebrate the rural identity and heritage of Woomelang. By focusing on local fauna, Dvate’s artwork pays homage to the deep connection between the community and its surrounding environment. The vivid and lifelike depictions of these birds, set against the muted tones of the Mallee’s iconic dry landscape, create a striking visual contrast that draws visitors’ attention from afar. The use of large silos as the canvas not only maximizes visibility but also blends contemporary art with the agricultural legacy of the region.
The impact of the Woomelang silo murals has been significant. Once a quiet and relatively isolated town, Woomelang has seen an increase in tourism and local engagement since the completion of the artwork. Travelers exploring the Silo Art Trail often stop in Woomelang, bringing much-needed economic benefits to local businesses such as the general store, cafes, and accommodation providers. Moreover, the murals have fostered a sense of pride among residents, uniting the community around a shared cultural landmark.

The upcoming three days will be exceedingly busy for me, as I have to travel extensively for work across regional Victoria. I thoroughly enjoyed my self-imposed break during the Lunar New Year. Joel has informed me that Sony is set to release the Sony A7RVI, which features a new sensor capable of encoding 100MB for photos. The cost will undoubtedly be significant, so we should start saving.
Furthermore, my house in Bendigo requires substantial work, estimated to cost up to 20,000 AUD. Additionally, my mother's house will necessitate the installation of a new solar battery, which is projected to add approximately 45,000 AUD to the expenses. This situation is becoming increasingly burdensome.

I really admire the artist ability to make this.
Joel and I have been flat out for the past 2 weeks. The weather has been suboptimal for any seascape photography. After all the errands for mum, I just work on binge watching shows.

On the weekend, Joel and I supposed to head to this Singapore Chili Crab restaurant. Then he had to go see an optometrist for a reading glasses. Then we ended up heading to Nylex Signs and Skipping Girl signage which did not light up at all. We went to Che the Vietnamese desert place and had best three colour ice there.
This was from a while back. At Hosier lane. The colour was popping so I took a snap.

I was going through an old uni album where Leonid and I were like inseparable twins. He is now the head of a bone marrow transplant department in US. Memory can be so much like old wine though I cannot drink alcohol because of gout.
Back from a trip to Noojee on Saturday. The hiking was exhausting but the photos were worth it. Both Joel and I fell into the cold creeks and we both got our injuries. So I am still sore from the trip.
This mural is really reminding me to cover my nose too. Stench is everywhere in that area.

I have a large family. Over 200 cousins that I could not count them all. It has been 3 years since I return to Taiwan. There were many wonderful items passed down the family tree. This was one of them.
I am not sure if this was a real painting or a fake one. The dress code was from Manchurian period with a pig tail. Quite a scenic background too. There is a lot of western painting influence for this one.

My brother tells me that he feels like he works so hard, but the bank account balance is not going up. Yet, he lives a frugal life. I somehow feel similar.
Gonna get back to working mode again.
