Lake Tyrrell for Skywatch Friday

Lake Tyrrell is a breathtaking, shallow Salt Lake that's more than just a geological wonder. This ancient Salt Lake spans an impressive 20,860 hectares, making it Victoria's largest Salt Lake. But what truly makes Lake Tyrrell an Instagram-worthy marvel is its stunning reflective surface that mirrors the sky, creating otherworldly visuals that seem straight out of a dream

Over the years, I have amassed a collection of photographs of this lake, capturing its various lights and weathers. Although I haven't visited the lake monthly this year, each visit has offered a unique experience.

Last evening, Joel and I planned to explore an inner-city beach along the Mornington Peninsula. We aimed to discover a few hidden corners of the rocky coast, perfect for long exposure photography. However, the weather turned completely overcast, contrary to the sunny forecast. We decided to detour to St Kilda Pier, which had recently reopened after three years of construction (Australia is notoriously slow with major construction projects).

Joel introduced me to the peculiar "no-no" dance from Sweden. He showed me an official video clip on TikTok, where the government requested Finnish women to perform this dance just before their rape in the country. It was bizarre to hear about this news. We ended up discussing world events in a rather dismal 24/7 China bar, consuming terrible carbs and eating deep-fried food

That is so bizarre right?

Safety Beach Sunset for Water H2O Thursday

Safety Beach is a serene seaside suburb just 56 km (35 miles) south of Melbourne's Central Business District. Known for its calm, sandy bay and family-friendly atmosphere, Safety Beach is a perfect spot for a relaxing day by the water.

A Beach for Everyone Safety Beach offers a safe swimming environment, making it ideal for families with young children. The beach is protected by a cove, ensuring calm waters and a gentle surf. There's also a small sandy dog beach, so you can bring your furry friend along for some fun in the sun.

Activities and Amenities The foreshore reserve features an attractive children's playground, BBQ areas with shading, and plenty of picnic spots. For those who enjoy boating, Martha Cove, a large inland harbour, provides excellent facilities and scenic views. The Safety Beach Sailing Club, established in 1967, hosts numerous state and national titles, showcasing the area's vibrant sailing community.

Scenic Surroundings Safety Beach is surrounded by natural beauty, with views of Mount Martha to the north and Arthurs Seat to the south. The coastal road of Marine Drive separates the housing and commercial areas from the beach, offering a scenic drive with stunning ocean views.

Historical Tidbits Interestingly, Safety Beach was once humorously referred to as "Shark Bay" due to shark sightings attracted by an old abattoir's waste. However, the area has since been cleaned up, and the name "Safety Beach" remains

Tower Hills for Sunday Best

This is the former lava tube of a volcano. It is still an active volcano here.

I am getting a lot of spams. Yesterday there were 50 of them. It took me forever to delete them. So I have to moderate all comments now

Pinnacles, Cape Woolamai, Victoria, Australia

While I am busy working in a town near outback, I do not have opportunity to even get out to take some photos. So this is from the time I busted my ankle 2 months ago.

Cape Bridgewater Bay Sunset

Finally, my foot is not as swollen and painful as 3 weeks ago. I am still on mission to lose a few more kilos by sticking to 16-hour intermittent fasting and carbohydrate deprived diet. Cutting out caffeine in life is the most difficult part as well. I need to look after my health too.

I took up another contract working in remote Victoria for another 2 weeks. This means social isolation for another 2 weeks. But it will help bank account balance for a while.

Lake Weeroona Bendigo for Skywatch Friday

Every night during my walk around this lake, it gives a different light. This night, I happen to have my camera with me.

It has been raining in Melbourne. More rains to follow in the next three days. So I will be hitting some fine dining places with Joel.

Inglewood township

Every now and then, there is a request for my visit to Inglewood hostel. It was a stormy day that I took the trip this week.

Back beach, Mornington Peninsula

A late post this morning since I had another adventure last night. It was fun searching for a landscape. There is no time to re-examine the work last night. However, I am so buggered this morning. Sore muscles everywhere

Swan Hill Sunset for Skywatch Friday

This was near where I work in this festive season. In severe heat, the magical hour renders the whole effort coming out here worthwhile.

Purple Sunset and storm clouds in Lake Charm

This lake is 40km from where I work. I had a night off and drove to this location to take a snap of this.

The Sunrise in Nyah West, Victoria

I am a rural geriatrician. So, I provide consults to the remote nursing homes in Vic-NSW border towns. This sunrise view is the bonus view I often get. This only last 5 minutes or so before the sky became a wonton.

The only concern is that big trucks and cargo carriers often speed without a worry in the world. Taking a shot by the roadside is quite risky.

Bay of Islands, Mornington Peninsula, Melbourne

Well, that big rock was meant to be my focus of the day for an ultra long exposure. I misread the tides that it was actually a high tide instead of a low one. So I walked to the deck for a timely sunset. The couple was already there trying to suck on each other's tongue.

So a snap

Seaford Pier Sunset

This spot is revered by many photographers in Melbourne - short travel and ease to set up the gear for long exposure under the bridge

Laowa 9mm f5.6 is a lens that does not have a good flare control. However, it is still an exceptional lens. Also a bit of glare makes the image real lol

Sony A7RIV allows me so much pixel to play with. Good dynamic range helps here.
