I have not spent much time photographing around Bendigo for quite a while, and looking at this panorama has stirred something in me, rekindling the desire to venture out with my camera again. Sometimes, all it takes is a familiar place seen from a different perspective to remind us why we fell in love with photography in the first place.
The Great Stupa of Universal Compassion is one of Bendigo’s remarkable landmarks, yet it seems to receive far less attention than it deserves. Rising with quiet grandeur against the surrounding landscape, it is a masterpiece of architecture and construction, where craftsmanship, patience and spiritual devotion come together in a remarkable expression of human endeavour. Perhaps it is time I rediscovered the places closer to home, and learned to see them again through the lens with fresh eyes.
