Springvale Fair for Sign2

There were really simple snaps as I was carrying a lot of shopping for mum. So framing was a little off.

Springvale, Melbourne, is a veritable melting pot of cultures. Traditionally, it has been one of the trios of renowned Asian street grocery regions, providing access to a plethora of Asian goods and produce. Remarkably, Springvale is one of the few suburbs that remains open during Easter weekend, Christmas, and indeed, every day of the year. However, the area is plagued by a dearth of parking facilities, an abundance of outdoor smokers, and the conspicuous presence of drug addicts loitering in the streets during broad daylight.

Some of these Vietnamese street foods were exotic and lovely

  2. I suppose addicts loiter near street food outlets hoping for a handout or the chance to pick a pocket or two. (I feel a song coming on . . . )

  4. I like those places with so many different types of food. But not that environment that you say...

  5. Goodness, it sounds like kind of a dangerous place. Are the police ever there? I bet the food is so good! I would love to taste something from the first potato truck!

    1. Police are known to stay safe themselves. Mortgage is more important

  6. This gives a wonderful feeling of this street! Don't worry about the framing -- it's real life, not perfectly framed.

  8. The Vietnamese food looks delicious. I wish I could buy food from these stalls. We have a selection of Chinese restaurants, but no Vietnamese places. Great signs.

  9. It's been a couple of years since I've been to Springvale, but I thought it felt quite safe and I never noticed addicts or dealers or troublesome people in the street. Maybe I should visit again. I'm sure there are delicious Bahn Mi everywhere.

  11. Strange that a few druggies and so on can spoil a place if you go there at the wrong time.
The photos are good, nothing wrong with them, they show colour and so on.

  17. There's nothing like tasting the street food from thee food trucks on the street. I'd love to have a wander around the area. It must be something like the Chinatown area here in Toronto. Very tasty stuff.

  18. Por lo que nos comentas es un barrio en el que mejor entrar en compañía, para disfrutar de esos platos orientales.

    Saludos.
