Tunnel of Nine Turns, Taiwan

These rocks are made of Marbles. The tunnel was made in 1950s. A lot of veterans died in building this tunnel. Swallows are everywhere around here.

  4. It is all marble? I am surprised it was not destroyed by mining! I would sure not want to be on this scary road!

  5. Looks like they had just enough room to build it.

  6. Hello,
I can imagine all the hard work it was building that tunnel. It is a lovely view! Have a great day!

  7. I think swallows nest on cliff faces, so it makes sense there being a lot of them around. What work that tunnel must have been.

  8. Gorgeous, but not a road I would feel comfortable on. Yes I know, I am a wimp.

  9. Amazing bit of engineering. Building tunnels used to be incredibly dangerous work; thousands lost their lives building our railways.

  10. Lovely scene but what a job those workers had building that road.

  13. El paisaje es precioso, pero por lo que nos dices de ese túnel su construcción fue todo una desgracia con la muerte de muchos obreros.

    Saludos.

  14. Again, amazing scenery, and I can understand why swallows enjoy it (if they are similar in behavior to our swallows in the United States). I've never seen anything like that scenery in person. Alana ramblinwitham.blogspot.com

  15. Seems impressive to be able to build a road through these mountains. Lovely photo.

  16. Wow - that's some engineering, first on the part of the Creator, and then on the part of those who constructed the roads.
