Melbourne Dockland at night for Sunday Best

The night the recent Firelight Festival led me to this corner of Melbourne, I found myself captivated by a scene glowing in the darkness. Green beams swept across the sky, dancing around the illuminated Bolte Bridge, while the city lights shimmered in the water below.

There were no fireworks—and somehow, that was perfectly fine. The crisp winter air, the quiet reflections upon the water, and the gentle glow of the city were more than enough. Sometimes, the simplest light is all we need to make a night memorable.

  2. In it's own way, this is just as pretty as fireworks.

  3. As children, Guy Fawkes Night was the fun highlight of the entire year.. until fireworks were banned. I am assuming that the Firelight Festival is now appealing to a totally different audience .

  6. I like this very much. The green is striking with the red - together they are more powerful than separately.
