Wulai creek fruit mural, Taipei for Mural Monday

Last week, I wrote about the Wulai Creek region in Taipei. Recently, I came across a mural there depicting an assortment of fruits. The entire artwork has fallen into decay, its surface mottled with mould and weathered by time. Yet, in its deterioration, I found it hauntingly unique and strangely beautiful.

  1. It is sad that no one has maintained this fine mural. Your photo tells an interesting story.

  2. I agree the decay and mold actually tells a story and is quite fit for today's world.

  3. En ocasiones lo inhabitual, lo sorprendente se nos presenta a los ojos y nos transmite algo de emoción o sentimiento y por eso, a veces, lo fotografiamos. Interesante mural. Y en lo deteriorado tal vez esté lo bello

  5. Yes, I totally agree. Upon first seeing this, I wondered if it has been weathered on purpose, to give the appearance of being old. It could possibly look better this way than when it was new. Gives it character!

  7. Yes, murals aren't generally meant to be permanent. They slowly fade away, or in this case, rot away.

  8. Shame about the decay, but the colours left look quite bright.

    All the best Jan

  11. La acción de los elementos, en este caso el tiempo y el clima, es el precio a pagar por el arte callejero y aun lograste ver algo de belleza.

    Saludos.
