Martin Place Sydney mural for Mural Monday

As I made my way through Martin Place in search of Angel Place, my attention was drawn to a mural along the way. It bore the appearance of a promotional display—more a commercial advertisement than a work of public art, I believe—though its colours and composition momentarily held my gaze.

  1. ...it's "The Peace Waratah" mural by renowned American street artist Shepard Fairey, who did the Obama Hope Posters.

  2. That is very striking, and unusual to see a reduced colour palette.

  3. Not sure what is advertise here. Perhaps this is a tribute to the musical group, ABBA with their one backward "B".

  4. It does look like an ad for something. Though artfully done. We have murals all over the city of girls with flowers in their hair!! I don't know if this is all the rage, it is strange to me.

  6. Shades of green and black used effectively. Thanks to Tom for the explanation.

  7. Abba was the first thing I thought of, but that doesn't make sense based on the image.

  11. Un mural que queda muy bien integrado en su entorno, por sus tonalidades y formas.
    Un abrazo.

  13. A colossal mural! And how well done! A work of art in itself, which you gift us with your photo, perfectly framed so its full dimension is evident. Congratulations!
    Hugs!

  15. I came across that mural in Sydney in 2019, at the time it was Sydney's tallest mural. The girl is holding an "obey" sign with a waratah (NSW floral emblem) in its circle. It's a beautiful mural, thanks for participating in Monday Murals. I found another of his murals in Berlin in 2022.

  18. Parece por su colorido, casi igual al de el edificio de cristal de fondo sea difícil ver.
Llevo un poco retrasadas las visitas por viajes en busca de material nuevo.

    Saludos.
