Childer's Cove in Mepunga Coast for Sunday Best

Squatting in this beach where 22 children were massacred was not really a good feeling.

  4. That part of our state is unknown to me, so I had to Guggle Mepunga.

  5. Softly pretty to look at till one learns of the history associated with the place.

  7. The beauty of Childer's Cove is shadowed by its heartbreaking history. It's a poignant reminder that even the most serene places can hold tragic stories.

Have a great week ahead, Roentare

  11. Beautiful shot! I was not aware of the massacre, just the wreck of the barque named "Children". The wreck is bad enough! (see: https://www.environment.gov.au/shipwreck/public/wreck/wreck.do?key=6059). Thanks for taking part in the "My Sunday Best" meme.

  12. I've visited a lot of battlefields over the years and, no matter how beautiful and peaceful they look now, there's always a feeling in the air - and I'm sure there was one here, also. How sad this history is for a place so beautiful.
