The garden surrounding Matsumoto Castle is called Ninomaru Garden
Matsumoto Castle, known as the "Crow Castle" for its striking black exterior, captivated me with its dramatic color and imposing beauty. The castle's design is truly remarkable, as it is built entirely of wood without the use of nails, a technique that highlights the skill and craftsmanship of its builders. Set against the serene backdrop of the Japanese Alps, the surrounding park adds to the castle’s allure, with its peaceful ponds and vibrant seasonal blooms. The combination of the castle's dark, bold presence and the tranquil park makes it an unforgettable sight.

The Castle looks impressive, and your photos around it are most inviting. I have been enjoying your posts from your time in Japan.
ReplyDeleteI realise it is good to go down memory lane too. Good to organise the shots through blog posting
DeleteWithout the use of nails? Against the serene backdrop of the Japanese Alps? I think the architects put as much thought into the environment as they put into the structure. The seasonal blooms also add colour and freshness.
ReplyDeleteIt is something that should inspire the modern construction industry
DeleteUn bello lugar, al menos desde fuera.
ReplyDeleteThe inside is quite good but I did not have enough time
DeleteIt is gorgeous! I saw a T.V. show about this style of architecture. The style is not only for beauty, but it resists earthquakes.
ReplyDeleteYes, I remember about the build resistant to earthquake hence it survived for so long
