Tenby Point Sunset, Melbourne

This jetty sits in a town less than 300 in total. 30-minute drive from Melbourne. Not far at all.

This jetty sunset is very easy to shoot, and reflection of the jetty is a guarantee if no rain.

12 Arhat (Luohan) of Buddhism, Melbourne, Australia

These 12 Arhat statues were discovered in a temple I had visited. Arhats are the spiritual practitioners that have reached certain stages of attainment. Most of them have rid off foes of afflictions. Each individual of them have a gift of their own depicted in each of the statue.

There is a growing trend in the number of Buddhism temples in Melbourne. So far I had spotted quite a few in Dandenong, Sprinvale and Yarraville.

All taken by Pentax 43mm.

Black Cod from Shoya - 1 hat restaurant in Melbourne CBD

It is really a busy day that it took me 4 hour to drive to Warrnambool then 4 hours driving back to Melbourne. Soooooooo tired...

This was the special dish ordered in Shoya where the moist juicy fish was roasted in miso paste. It tastes heavenly.

The restaurant is in this link http://www.shoya.com.au/

Sierra Navada Rocks sunset for Skywatch Friday

1900: The Sierra Nevada sinks near Portsea; 23 lost - From The Age

"The ship Sierra Nevada bound from Liverpool to Melbourne, crashed upon the rocks of the Ocean Back Beach, behind Portsea, at 1 a.m. yesterday, and 23 of her crew were lost. The centre of the ship, like a mammoth shark’s fin, now appears above the breakers upon which the unmasted hull has been impaled, and that is all that is visible of the wreck. The masts, sails and numberless spars and fragments from the splintered vessel, together with many hundreds of cases and bales of cargo, bestrew the rocks to the mainland, and shortly after news was received of the disaster the battered body of the captain was hauled out from among the wreckage."

The Sierra Nevada was bound from Liverpool with a cargo that consisted chiefly of whiskey and paper. She sighted Cape Otway on Tuesday morning, and before a favouring breeze made good progress towards Melbourne. At nightfall the lookout sighted the Heads, and there was every prospect of entering the harbor early in the morning. Soon, however, the wind veered around to the south, and as it steadily increased in strength, sail was shortened and everything made taut and apparently safe. The ship continued on her way without increased portents of danger until 11 p.m. Then, above the lashing of the waves and the roar of the wind, the voice of Geo. McGuffin, the man on the lookout, was heard proclaiming ominous warning, “Breakers ahead!” Simultaneously the sailors discerned through the darkness a white line of surf, in bold contrast to a black and rugged background of rocks, which rose out of a dense mist of spray upon the port side.

This is the first time I could find out more information of this shipwreck I frequented many times in the past few years. It is because of some remnants I found ion the region. I was pretty sure there was a shipwreck.

Old Melbourne Gaol

I took a ton of photos at the Melbourne Gaol. The place gave me creeps. Then the patterns and directional lights do somewhat feel artistic.

Melbourne Council Night Light ups

Melbourne Council at night - same light projection for 5 years in a row - we need innovation!

Hectic last few days - getting my skin spot biopsied, running mum's appointments, getting my supply to live through the remote Australia town this Xmas and New Year

Princes Pier, Melbourne for Skywatch Friday

Due to the foot injury, my pal and I came here after a nice dinner in CBD. As usual, there is a whole line up of photographers at the edge of the pier. A bit busy driving from Bendigo to Melbourne again for Chinese lunar new year. Mum got a whole list of last-minute shopping to do. She wants "fresh" produce as ancestral offering on the lunar new year eve.

Graffiti mural, Melbourne, Australia - Part1

Graffiti can be artistic. Like this one. It was spotted in Richmond, Melbourne. The space to create this mural is within 30 cm wide alley for an artist to do this. Incredible, isn't it?

Spider Macro

This image is taken by Voigtlander 125mm f2.5 macro APO Lanthar

Life is busy at the moment. Good to be occupied in fact.  This photo was taken a while back when I still had that obsession with insects in general. Sometimes it is amazing to see the extent I really want to get this sort of image spending hours of tracking and snapping to get this desirable outcome. You might not be aware that this macro lens is legendary. Yet, I have sold it to a Melbourne enthusiastist. This lens has absolute no fringeing and smoothest bokeh among all macro lenses. The colour rendition is clean and clear. Very mesmerising lens in deed.

Street photography is still my thing. Yet, it is so hard to pick this up after 3 years of non shooting. Somehow I am confident that I will pick it with the help of friends :)

The top name for boy baby is Jack and girl baby is Ruby last year.

Another McDonald is robbed in Melbourne. This is very spooky.

Waterfall Minoo for Sunday Best

From one of many trips to Japan in the past, this waterfall is most poetic. It feels like a waterfall in high mountains of China. The perfection location for photography.

Pentax K10D - surprising what a small sensor and old tech can create a shot like this.

The double whammy - football final and school holidays render Melbourne impossible to commute. I tried the candid photography in Melbourne CBD yesterday which was quite a shocker. Carp parking fee tripled on the public holidays. Traffic was so congested. There were crowds everywhere wearing Collingwood or Brisbane T shirts. I learnt the lesson to stay indoor even though there was Moon Cake Festival happening today.

Meteor Sign in Melbourne Museum for Tom's Sign2

I was in a dinosaur Melbourne Museum. This sign marks the end of the fossil tour. A fitting meteor for the tragic ending.

I ended up doing most candid street photography in Melbourne CBD over the past 3 days. Funny it really feels great! I will add them to the queue in my other blog Melbourne Street Photography

Sugarloaf reserve, Melbourne

My buddy separated from his spouse from last weekend. We drove around the burbs of Melbourne all the way to King Lake National Park. King lake national park has no lake whatsoever. Then we go through Kangaroo Ground to Sugarloaf for some dam shots.

We spotted this tin cottage in the hills. So nice to look at.
