"The ship Sierra Nevada bound from Liverpool to Melbourne, crashed upon the rocks of the Ocean Back Beach, behind Portsea, at 1 a.m. yesterday, and 23 of her crew were lost. The centre of the ship, like a mammoth shark’s fin, now appears above the breakers upon which the unmasted hull has been impaled, and that is all that is visible of the wreck. The masts, sails and numberless spars and fragments from the splintered vessel, together with many hundreds of cases and bales of cargo, bestrew the rocks to the mainland, and shortly after news was received of the disaster the battered body of the captain was hauled out from among the wreckage."
The Sierra Nevada was bound from Liverpool with a cargo that consisted chiefly of whiskey and paper. She sighted Cape Otway on Tuesday morning, and before a favouring breeze made good progress towards Melbourne. At nightfall the lookout sighted the Heads, and there was every prospect of entering the harbor early in the morning. Soon, however, the wind veered around to the south, and as it steadily increased in strength, sail was shortened and everything made taut and apparently safe. The ship continued on her way without increased portents of danger until 11 p.m. Then, above the lashing of the waves and the roar of the wind, the voice of Geo. McGuffin, the man on the lookout, was heard proclaiming ominous warning, “Breakers ahead!” Simultaneously the sailors discerned through the darkness a white line of surf, in bold contrast to a black and rugged background of rocks, which rose out of a dense mist of spray upon the port side.
This is the first time I could find out more information of this shipwreck I frequented many times in the past few years. It is because of some remnants I found ion the region. I was pretty sure there was a shipwreck.

I like this old sign photo from Fitzroy St Melbourne. Quite artistic.
It is raining in Bendigo. Overcast for a couple of days on forecast. Time to explore indoor exhibitions with Joel this weekend.

From one of many trips to Japan in the past, this waterfall is most poetic. It feels like a waterfall in high mountains of China. The perfection location for photography.
Pentax K10D - surprising what a small sensor and old tech can create a shot like this.
The double whammy - football final and school holidays render Melbourne impossible to commute. I tried the candid photography in Melbourne CBD yesterday which was quite a shocker. Carp parking fee tripled on the public holidays. Traffic was so congested. There were crowds everywhere wearing Collingwood or Brisbane T shirts. I learnt the lesson to stay indoor even though there was Moon Cake Festival happening today.

There is no epic sky. Just the same overcast weather with constant drizzle. There is also no parking available in the area on weekends. So one can only visit during the weekdays.

Back from a trip to Noojee on Saturday. The hiking was exhausting but the photos were worth it. Both Joel and I fell into the cold creeks and we both got our injuries. So I am still sore from the trip.
This mural is really reminding me to cover my nose too. Stench is everywhere in that area.

Joel and I are trying to re-examine the photos from our regular walks. I like this one the best.
We were told to leave when a security officer told us not to photograph the stairs. But we were standing in the public space taking a photo of the steps. We could not understand why they bothered. There were tons of the same images on the net too.

This wall mural is inside a corridor in a building off Russell Street Melbourne.
I spotted a chap coming out of a Chinese eatery, who bought some take away. He was yelling at all the Asians coming into the store "Get some real food!". That really made my day.

This is the royal botanic garden. It costs 55 bucks for all time entry. No refund possible. Joel and I came here ready to shoot on Thursday night. This lake in the garden is usually quite boring for me. Not that night.

Expensive meal for Joel's Birthday. We were still hungry afterwards, so we went to a dumpling alley.
I realised the photos would be buried in my hard drive forever after the occasion. I might as well post them here like a diary.

Melbourne is cold too. Despite me paying the bill, mum's frugal approach to simple life means no heating at all (I spent 20k AUD on the 26 sheets of solar panel and a battery too). She even developed chilblains in her feet. The generation.
My trip to Cape Woolamai did not happen as the gale was up to 40 knots. The weekend weather was not fitting for me to go into the nature at all. Plus mum and brother were nagging me to stay home boy instead. So I ended up trying the best winning 2023 pie in Australia - I will show later on.

Melbourne has been wet for several consecutive weekends.
The beach is cold and magical moments are hard to find.
This weekend is likely to be less rainy. My pal and I gonna take another adventure.
